Davide Ancelotti Begins Lille Coaching Stint Remotely Due to Brazil World Cup Commitment
French club Lille has announced the appointment of Italian Davide Ancelotti as the team's new coach on a two-season contract. This move marks his first experience as a head coach at a European club.
Davide Ancelotti, 36, has accumulated extensive experience as an assistant to his father, Carlo Ancelotti, at several prominent European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Napoli, and Everton.
The Italian coach previously had his first independent coaching stint with Brazilian club Botafogo, though it lasted only five months. During that period, he guided the team to 14 victories, 11 draws, and 7 defeats before rejoining his father, who is currently managing the Brazilian national team.
Despite his official appointment as Lille's coach, Ancelotti's current commitment to the Brazilian national team will delay his physical presence with the French club. He will continue his duties as part of Carlo Ancelotti's technical staff during the World Cup finals until July 19th, with his actual supervision of Lille's training set to begin on July 20th.
Davide will manage the preparatory phase remotely. During Brazil's World Cup campaign, he will hold meetings with his staff via video conferencing to outline the tactical project he aims to implement with the northern French club.
