Neymar to Wear Brazil's No. 10 at World Cup, Equaling Pelé's Record
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced that Neymar will wear the number 10 jersey at the upcoming World Cup finals. The federation confirmed via its official social media platforms that the Brazilian star will continue to don this historic number for the fourth time in his international career, further solidifying his status as one of the most prominent players in his country's squad during global competitions.
This assignment allows Neymar to equal the record previously held solely by the late legend Pelé, who wore the number 10 jersey for the Brazilian national team in four different editions of the World Cup. Neymar previously featured with this number in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 tournaments, while Pelé wore it in the 1958, 1962, 1966, and 1970 editions.
Despite currently suffering from a calf injury that could sideline him for two to three weeks, the technical decision was made to include the player in the official squad. This move aims to ensure the player's readiness for the advanced stages of the tournament after he completes his scheduled treatment and rehabilitation program under the supervision of the team's medical staff.
