Casemiro: Brazil Will Be Strong at World Cup, But Other Teams Have an Edge
Brazilian international Casemiro affirmed that the "Seleção" will enter the 2026 World Cup with high ambitions, despite acknowledging that other national teams appear more prepared in terms of stability and continuous work. The Brazil midfielder's statements came after his country's commanding 6-2 victory over Panama in a friendly match, where he stressed that discussing the favorite to win the World Cup remains difficult at present.
Speaking to "ESPN Brasil," Casemiro stated: "It's difficult to talk about a favorite to win the World Cup. We will arrive in a strong position, but there are other teams a step ahead of us because they have a more stable and continuous project."
The Brazilian midfield captain added that coach Carlo Ancelotti is still at the beginning of his journey with the national team. He explained: "Ancelotti has only completed 40 days of work recently, while other teams have made greater strides in this path."
Despite this, Casemiro expressed confidence in Brazil's ability to compete strongly during the finals, asserting that ambition remains present within the squad. He said: "We will be strong because the ambition and the childhood dream are still strongly present."
Brazil is in Group C of the World Cup, alongside Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti.
