"Mission Accomplished": Boufal Announces Le Havre Departure After Helping Club Secure Ligue 1 Survival
Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal has concluded his tenure with Le Havre, having successfully guided the team to secure their survival in the French Ligue 1 during the second half of the current season.
Boufal joined Le Havre during the recent winter transfer window as a free agent, following the end of his spell with Union Saint-Gilloise. He embraced a new challenge with the aim of helping the French club avoid relegation.
The Moroccan player delivered strong performances for Le Havre, contributing one goal and four assists in 17 matches. He also played a pivotal role in the decisive encounter against Lorient last weekend, which officially secured the team's top-flight status.
Boufal announced his departure from the club today, Wednesday, via a farewell message addressed to Le Havre fans on his official Instagram account. He wrote: “Dear Le Havre supporters, after the end of the season, I would like to thank you for these six months we spent together. It was a great honor and pride for me to wear the club's jersey.”
He added: “I greatly enjoyed playing at Stade Océane in front of you, as well as in all the stadiums you traveled to support us. Your support and loyalty were crucial throughout this adventure.”
He concluded: “I also thank all the club members, the technical staff, my teammates, and the sports management for the trust and the moments we shared together. Survival has been achieved… and the mission is accomplished.”
