Le Havre Coach on Boufal: "He Has the Talent and Mentality, That's Why He's Very Useful for Us"
Le Havre coach Didier Digard praised the performance of Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal against Olympique Lyonnais in the French League, highlighting his offensive and defensive capabilities.
Speaking at the press conference following the victory, Digard stated: "When you have talent, you must also have the mentality, and this is what Sofiane (Boufal) possesses, which is why he is very useful to us. He was used in a position that is not necessarily his preferred one, but for me, he was the most beneficial for the team, and he performed excellently, especially physically."
He continued: "He helped us a lot defensively. As for the offensive side, I don't think I will teach him much, other than reinforcing his conviction to achieve better statistics. But defensively, he provided us with great support through his tactical responses."
Digard added: "Regarding his preferred position, we had the feeling, at least from the stands, that he enjoys great freedom with the ball. If you want to get the most out of players, you must know how to give them freedom, not through concessions, but he has offensive freedom as long as I am confident defensively. This is the important balance."
He concluded: "He is a player who must have freedom within the offensive framework, but he must help the team because we need everyone to defend. I believe he earns this freedom, or freedom for his teammates, through the effort he puts in for them defensively."
