Boufal: 'I Don't Wake Up Thinking About the World Cup; The Pitch Will Speak'
Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal, a player for Le Havre, has spoken about his current situation within the team and his objectives with the club. He emphasized that the collective interest remains paramount and praised his strong relationship with the technical staff, highlighting his focus on performing at his best without putting pressure on himself regarding his international future.
Boufal stated in comments published on Le Havre's official French website: “The most important thing is not my personal situation, but the team and Le Havre's goal of staying in Ligue 1.” He added: “If the coach decides to rest me, I understand that completely. Whether I'm a starter or a substitute, I'm ready to fight for the team and give my best. Competition is part of the game, and everyone must fight!”
He continued: “I have a very good relationship with the coach, and he is an excellent coach. Tactically, he is among the best in Ligue 1! He has given me a lot of confidence and shown me great appreciation at a time when I really needed it… The same goes for Mathieu Bodmer and ‘Momo’ Kharraz. I am very happy and proud to belong to this team.”
Boufal further explained: “When I signed with Le Havre, I didn't do it to go to the World Cup. What I liked was the discourse of the coach and the officials within the club. As for the national team, things shouldn't be forced; everything will come naturally. I don't wake up in the morning thinking about the necessity of going to the World Cup… The pitch will speak!”
Regarding his future with the club, he said: “My stay? Of course, that's a possibility. I am very happy here; it's a club I appreciate greatly. I'm not closing any doors!”
He concluded: “I only focus on my work on the pitch, and I try to give my best to serve my team in every match.”
