Morocco in Pot One as CAF Reveals National Team Rankings Ahead of AFCON 2027 Qualifiers Draw on Tuesday
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the official rankings of national teams participating in the draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scheduled to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The rankings are based on the latest FIFA standings.
The rankings place Morocco in Pot One, alongside other prominent African national teams. The "Atlas Lions" have maintained their position among the continent's elite thanks to their recent results at both continental and international levels.
Pot One includes Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Cameroon, DR Congo, Mali, South Africa, and Burkina Faso.
Pot Two features Cape Verde, Ghana, Guinea, Gabon, Uganda, Angola, Benin, Zambia, Mozambique, Madagascar, Equatorial Guinea, and Comoros.
Pot Three comprises Kenya, Libya, Tanzania, Niger, Mauritania, Gambia, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Togo, Malawi, and Rwanda.
Meanwhile, Pot Four includes Zimbabwe, Guinea-Bissau, Congo-Brazzaville, Central African Republic, Liberia, Burundi, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Botswana, South Sudan, Eritrea, and Somalia.
The qualifiers are expected to witness strong competition among the various national teams vying for qualification spots in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
