Paris Saint-Germain Fans Attack Woman Over Bayern Munich Shirt
A young woman driving her car on the Champs-Élysées in the French capital, Paris, was harassed and attacked by Paris Saint-Germain fans on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred amidst celebrations by supporters for their team's qualification for the UEFA Champions League final for the second consecutive time. The woman was targeted by those present because she was wearing a Bayern Munich shirt.
Recorded video footage of the incident showed fans vandalizing the car, which sustained dents, and having its fuel tank cap ripped off. One individual climbed onto the vehicle and struck the windows, forcing the woman to exit. Parisian fans chanted abusive remarks at her, saying, "Take off that filthy shirt," and demanded she leave, shouting, "Get out of here," amidst a scene of chaos and violent verbal harassment.
Laurent Nuñez, the French Interior Minister, announced the arrest of 127 individuals in the Greater Paris area following the incidents that occurred that night. Nuñez clarified that the clashes and riots resulted in 11 injuries, including one described as serious, in addition to 23 French police officers sustaining minor injuries while attempting to control the situation and secure the street celebrations.
Paris Saint-Germain secured their place in the final after a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena, giving them a 6-5 aggregate victory over the two legs. The club had appealed to its supporters via its X platform account to celebrate with a spirit of responsibility and unity. However, the night of qualification witnessed on-field transgressions and attacks, despite official calls for calm.
