
Zamalek Board Member: 'Discussing Request for Confederation Cup Final First Leg in Algeria Without Fans'
Naira Al-Ahmar, a member of Zamalek Club's board of directors, confirmed that the board is awaiting a decision from the African Football Confederation (CAF) regarding the incidents during the match between Olympique Safi and Algerian club USM Alger, and the possibility of playing the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final without spectators.
Al-Ahmar told Egyptian channel "On Sport" regarding Zamalek's request to hold the first leg of the Confederation Cup final in Algeria without fans: "Discussions are currently underway regarding this matter."
She added: "Zamalek will strongly defend any right guaranteed by the law and regulations approved by the African Confederation in order to obtain it."
The match between Olympique Safi and USM Alger, in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, witnessed acts of hooliganism by supporters of the Algerian team. The encounter ended in a 1-1 draw, with USM Alger securing their spot in the final.
