Bentayg's Lawyer Informs Zamalek of Contract Termination Proceedings
The lawyer of Moroccan player Mahmoud Bentayg has informed Zamalek SC management of the initiation of contract termination proceedings with the club, following the player's failure to receive his overdue financial entitlements, according to Egyptian website "FilGoal".
The financial crisis first emerged last October when Bentayg's agents sent an official warning to the club's management. A temporary solution was reached at the time, but the problem has recently escalated again.
Zamalek is reportedly suffering from financial pressures that have affected the payment of dues to its players and coaching staff. Bentayg had joined the team from French club Saint-Étienne during the last summer transfer window. The player has participated in 42 matches for the team so far, scoring two goals and assisting five others, and has won the African Super Cup and Egypt Cup with the club.
Bentayg is the third player to inform Zamalek management of his desire to terminate his contract, following Abdelhamid Maali and Salah El Din Moussaddak. This is a clear indication of the ongoing financial crisis within the club, which is affecting the team's stability and official participation in competitions.
