FIFA Introduces New World Cup Ticket Categories with Prices Up to $4,000
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has added new, high-priced ticket categories, dubbed "Front Row," to its official World Cup ticket sales website without any prior public announcement. These updates introduce "Front Row 1" and "Front Row 2" tiers, which impose a significant price increase for seats across a range of matches scheduled for the global tournament hosted by North America.
Tickets for the U.S. national team's opening match against Paraguay, scheduled for June 12 in Inglewood, California, have seen a substantial price hike. A "Front Row 1" seat for this game now costs $4,105, marking an increase from the previous highest price for Category 1, which stood at $2,735. Meanwhile, "Front Row 2" prices for the same match ranged between $1,940 and $2,330.
The adjustments also extended to Canada's opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto, where "Front Row 1" tickets were offered at prices reaching $3,360. In Philadelphia, Round of 16 matches now feature seats priced up to $905 within the newly introduced categories, according to reports published by The Athletic on Thursday. FIFA has not yet issued any official comment in response to inquiries regarding these price increases.
The World Cup finals are scheduled to take place across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, running from June 11 to July 19. Category 2 ticket prices for the final match in New Jersey have also seen an increase, now reaching $7,380, up from the previously set price of $5,575. It's worth noting that the highest ticket price for the final had earlier reached $10,990.
