Zidane Makes Decision, Agrees to Coach France National Team
Zinedine Zidane is preparing to return to the world of coaching, with the French football legend having decided to take over as head coach of the French national team. He will succeed Didier Deschamps, who announced his departure from "Les Bleus" immediately after the 2026 World Cup.
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Zidane received an offer weeks ago to immediately join a major club. However, his response left no room for doubt, as he declined, prompting the club in question to search for another coach.
The winner of three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid stated that his future was already decided, and that long-standing discussions had turned into a full agreement with the French Football Federation to lead his national team.
Zidane received numerous offers during his time away from the dugout. Rumours even suggested on various occasions that his future might lie in a potential return to Real Madrid, the only team the Frenchman has coached in his career, alongside their reserve squad.
Zidane ignored many tempting offers due to his constant desire to coach the French national team. Most notably, an offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal, which reportedly offered the coach millions of euros.
