Morocco Decides Against Celebrating AFCON 2025 Title During Paraguay Match
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has decided not to hold any celebratory displays for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title during the upcoming friendly match against Paraguay in Lens, France. This official stance aims to avoid showcasing the trophy or organizing any coronation ceremonies at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to prevent preempting the final outcomes of ongoing legal cases.
This decision is made to respect the ongoing legal process, pending the final ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation. Consequently, the stadium will not feature any celebratory banners or messages related to the continental title, which was awarded to the Moroccan national team by a 3-0 score by the Appeals Committee, following Senegal's official disqualification earlier.
Reports confirm that Moroccan national team coach Mohamed Wahbi will not speak to the media before the match, reinforcing the calm approach adopted by the Moroccan side. This friendly, scheduled for Tuesday at 8:00 PM, is part of serious preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals. An attendance of 38,000 fans is expected in the stands to watch the preparatory encounter.
