Sektioui: "I Chose the Hardest Path Despite Financial Temptations; My Goal is to Lead Oman to Titles, Not Just Participation"
During his official presentation, Tarik Sektioui, the coach of the Omani national team, expressed his great ambition, affirming his desire to transfer the successful Moroccan experience to Omani football and build a competitive team capable of achieving titles.
Sektioui stated, "I came to transfer the Moroccan experience, which has become a continental and Arab leader, and has succeeded in competing with major European and international teams." He added, "Morocco reaching eighth in the world and winning titles across various categories reflects the depth of grassroots work, especially at the youth level."
He continued, "I was fortunate to be among those who contributed to building this experience since 2009, and this gives me an advantage in transferring it to Oman so that it can become one of the leading Gulf nations."
He further added, "After winning the Arab Cup, I received several offers from North Africa, Morocco, and elsewhere, but my choice of Oman came out of complete conviction, and I am very happy to be here."
The coach also stated, "The choice was easy despite the financial temptations, because I believe in the principles of professionalism and rely on professional data in making my decisions."
He continued, "Furthermore, the intuition I have accumulated over 15 years of coaching, and the selection of the people I will work with, are among the most important factors for me."
Sektioui elaborated on his statement, saying, "My contract extends for four years, and my goal is to build a competitive team and develop Omani football on strong professional foundations, not just mere participation."
He added, "They say I am a trophy coach, and today I did not choose the easy path; rather, I want Oman to participate with the aim of winning titles, and for us to build a strong team with a clear identity, capable of competing."
He concluded, "I want to build a team that has great passion for the jersey. From now until the Asian Cup, we must be a cohesive team, while also working on preparing successors and qualifying for the World Cup."
He finished by saying, "You can play with players aged 30 or 33; that is possible. However, relying on players aged 35 or older is difficult, and we need to find successors among young players."
