The Jordanian national team will compete in Group 10 of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Argentina, Austria, and Algeria. This marks the first participation for "Al-Nashama" (the Braves) in the history of the World Cup.
Al-Salmi stated in a press conference: “In major tournaments, many teams can create surprises. My country, Morocco, reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, and this gives us confidence.”
He continued speaking to the media during the Jordanian national team's training camp in Antalya, Turkey: “We are preparing step by step. We have played against different footballing styles, and we are gaining experience. God willing, we will surprise many.”
