Former French star Eric Cantona has put forward a new proposal to limit wars and conflicts between nations, expressing his dissatisfaction with global events in recent years.
Speaking to French channel Canal Plus, Cantona stated: "I propose creating an international law that obliges the president who wages war to be the first to fight on the front lines, instead of sending young people. I believe that this would significantly reduce wars."
He continued: "Presidents who ignite wars are in offices 25 meters long, and from there they send 18-year-old youths to their deaths. The victims on the other side are not young people, but children aged 3 or 11, and they are innocent."
The Frenchman concluded his remarks on current conflicts by saying: "None of my children will go to war. Why would I send them? And for whose benefit?"
