Egyptian Footballer Moatasem Zakaria Dies in Car Accident While Distributing Iftar Meals

Moatasem Zakaria, a player for Egypt's Mansoura Workers Club, passed away last Saturday evening following a car accident on a road in Dakahlia Governorate. He was participating in a charitable act, distributing Iftar meals to those fasting before the Maghrib call to prayer.

Egyptian press reports indicated that Zakaria, who was 14 years old, was run over by a car while carrying out the humanitarian task.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) mourned the player in an official statement, saying: "Engineer Hany Abou Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, along with the board members, Secretary-General, EFA employees, and the Dakahlia Football Branch, express their deepest sorrow and grief over the passing of young player Moatasem Zakaria, a Mansoura Workers Club player born in 2011. We ask Almighty God to envelop him in His vast mercy and grant his family and loved ones patience and solace."

Mansoura Workers Club also announced the death of their player via their official Facebook account, stating: "Our player Moatasem Zakaria, a player for the 2011-born team, has passed away to God's mercy following a painful accident."
