Tragedy in Egyptian Football: Young Player Dies After Strong Tackle During Match
Grief has enveloped the Egyptian sports community following the death of Loay Ragab Sayed, a player for Manshiet El Bakary Youth Center. Sayed succumbed to a severe injury he sustained during his team's match against Sheikh Zayed Club on Sunday, as part of the 16th round of the Giza Fourth Division League.
According to media reports, the player was involved in a strong collision with the opposing team's goalkeeper during a shared ball challenge. This resulted in a serious injury, necessitating his urgent transfer to the hospital. Despite undergoing examinations and emergency medical intervention in an attempt to save him, Sayed tragically passed away, leaving his teammates and coaching staff in shock and deep sorrow.
Manshiet El Bakary Youth Center Club confirmed the tragic news in an official statement, noting that the player was 22 years old. This announcement sparked a widespread wave of sympathy and grief within sports circles, particularly as the match itself had ended in a 2-0 victory for his team, with the initial joy quickly turning into profound sorrow following the news of his death.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) also mourned the late player in an official statement, extending its deepest condolences to his family, relatives, and friends, and wishing them patience and solace during this painful time.
Loay Ragab played as a defensive midfielder, and his club had celebrated him just days earlier after he scored the fastest goal in the Egyptian Fourth Division League, finding the net against Abu Rawash after only 20 seconds in the previous round. He also notably wore the number 10 shirt for Manshiet El Bakary.
