Santos: "We Must Do Everything to Beat Pyramids and Reach Historic Semifinals"
The draw for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, conducted yesterday, Tuesday, resulted in a formidable clash pitting AS FAR against Egyptian side Pyramids FC.
The match presents a true challenge and a difficult test between AS FAR, who finished second in their group with nine points, and Pyramids FC, an African powerhouse who topped their group with 16 points. This encounter is a repeat of last season's quarter-final.
In this regard, AS FAR coach Alexandre Santos told "Al-Botola": "In the draw, we were expecting to face either Stade Malien, Al-Hilal Omdurman, or Pyramids."
He continued: "Ultimately, Pyramids FC will be our next opponent, and we will face them for the second time in the quarter-finals."
He added: "The challenge will be significant and of a high level against an African powerhouse who topped their group with 16 points, having achieved only one draw in six matches."
He further stated: "They are an opponent with great players, which is why they have won many titles in recent seasons, and now we must prepare well to advance to the semi-finals."
Santos concluded his remarks by saying: "We must win against any team the draw pits us against. Pyramids will be our next opponent, and theoretically, they were the toughest among the three possibilities."
He continued: "This is how life is, and this is our path. We must do everything to win and qualify for the semi-finals, which will in itself be a great challenge and a historic moment for the club."
