Reports from Beninese Referee and Libyan Observer Set Stage for Major Sanctions Against Al Ahly Fans

The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to convene a meeting to review the incidents that occurred during the match between Egypt's Al Ahly and Morocco's AS FAR. The game, part of the sixth and final round of the CAF Champions League group stage, ended in a goalless draw.

According to reports submitted by Libyan match observer Jamal Ambia and Nigerian match coordinator Obi Okai, both documents detailed numerous incidents witnessed during the match. Most notably, Al Ahly fans threw a large number of bottles from all sides of the stadium, causing the match to be temporarily halted due to projectiles. Additionally, an AS FAR player was reportedly hit by a bottle while exiting the stadium tunnel at halftime.

Beninese referee Louis Djindou also provided precise details in his report regarding the crowd disturbances and their impact on the match proceedings.
