Al Ahly Responds to AS FAR Complaint to CAF, Condemns Fan Behavior, Submits Full File to Disciplinary Committee
Egyptian club Al Ahly has issued an official statement responding to the complaint filed by Moroccan club AS FAR with the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The complaint concerned incidents that occurred during the match between the two teams at Cairo International Stadium, which was part of the final round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
In its statement, the Egyptian club affirmed that it had previously chosen not to file any official complaint after the first leg, which took place at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on November 28, 2025. This decision was made despite what Al Ahly described as its players being subjected to harm and threats from sharp objects thrown onto the pitch, as documented by video clips and television broadcasts. The club noted that it had, at the time, merely raised some observations with CAF, out of a desire to preserve the fraternal relations it shares with the Moroccan club.
The same source added that Al Ahly's management ensured a positive reception for the AS FAR delegation in Cairo, reflecting the strong ties between the two clubs. However, Al Ahly stated that during the return match, some AS FAR fans attempted to storm Al Ahly's stands and the pitch before security forces intervened to prevent any escalation.
Al Ahly explained that these events provoked reactions from some of its own fans, who proceeded to throw water bottles inside the stadium's track. The club explicitly condemned this behavior, affirming its complete rejection of such actions, regardless of their justifications, and reiterating its commitment to the values of sportsmanship and respect for opponents.
The Egyptian club concluded its statement by confirming that it has communicated with CAF and submitted all relevant information, supported by video evidence, to the Disciplinary Committee. Al Ahly stressed that these actions remain isolated and do not reflect the general conduct of its fans, while simultaneously reaffirming the strong relations it shares with Moroccan clubs and their supporters.
