18 Senegalese and Algerian Fans Arrested Following AFCON 2025 Final Incidents
Moroccan police have arrested 18 Senegalese fans and one Algerian national on suspicion of involvement in riotous behavior during the Africa Cup of Nations final. The match, which pitted Morocco against Senegal, took place at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Moroccan judicial sources confirmed to Agence France-Presse (AFP) that the Senegalese fans were placed in custody under instructions from the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Rabat Court of Appeal. They are being questioned regarding the disturbances that occurred inside the stadium. The arrested Algerian fan is suspected of inciting the unrest.
The incident took place minutes before the end of regular time in the match, which Senegal won 1-0 against Morocco. Approximately some Senegalese supporters attempted to storm the pitch for about 15 minutes before security forces and stadium officials managed to regain control with difficulty.
