Cameroon Camp Concerned Over Yongwa and Nagida Injuries Ahead of Morocco Clash
Doubts are emerging regarding the participation of Cameroon national team players Darlin Yongwa and Mahamadou Nagida in the upcoming match against Morocco, a quarter-final fixture in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cameroonian technical staff is anxiously monitoring the health status of defender Yongwa, who was forced to leave Sunday's match against South Africa due to injury. Nagida, who came on as a substitute for Yongwa in the same game, is also reportedly suffering from some health issues.
During a press conference held today, Thursday, Cameroon coach David Pagou affirmed that such circumstances are normal in major competitions. He stated, "In a tournament of this level, it is natural for the medical clinic to always be busy, as players are not always at their full physical readiness."
He continued, "Yongwa suffered a muscle strain during the match against South Africa, which forced him to leave before the end of the first half. Dr. Fotsou is closely monitoring his condition, and he is improving. We will assess his situation during this evening's training session."
"The same applies to Nagida. We are trying to manage this situation so that the players can psychologically overcome their injuries and give their best to defend the nation's colours," Pagou added.
The Cameroon national team is set to face Morocco tomorrow, Friday, at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 8:00 PM (GMT+1).
