Regragui: "Cameroon Coach Took Responsibility Before AFCON, I Experienced the Same at the World Cup"
Morocco national team coach Walid Regragui praised Cameroon national team coach David Pagou during a press conference held today, ahead of the anticipated clash between Morocco and Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Walid Regragui stated, "I congratulate the Cameroon coach because it's difficult to be given the national team just before the AFCON, and I experienced this at the World Cup. It's not an easy task."
The national coach added, "We see that he has presented good ideas, and in terms of age, he is 6 years older than me, which means he is more experienced."
Regragui also highlighted Pagou's local experience: "He has coached in Cameroon and knows the atmosphere and the Cameroonian mentality. I am happy that Eto'o trusted a local coach, and it shows that we have good coaches on the continent."
Regragui concluded by wishing both sides good luck: "If I were to say something to him, I would wish him good luck, and may the best team win tomorrow. It's a difficult match between two strong teams in front of a fantastic crowd, and I hope we can deliver a good spectacle for African football."
The Moroccan national team will face its Cameroonian counterpart tomorrow, starting at 8:00 PM, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, for the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.
