Regragui Explains Amrabat's Absence, Emphasizes Team Unity Over Individual Scorers
Walid Regragui, the head coach of the Moroccan national team, addressed the decision to omit midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from the starting lineup against Zambia on Monday, during the third round of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking at the press conference after the 3-0 victory over Zambia, Regragui stated: "Amrabat is a very important player for us, and we will need him. There are matches where we have to make certain decisions. Amrabat must be respected because he came with a slight ankle injury and did everything to be present at the Africa Cup."
He added: "Physically, he also hasn't played for a while, so we had to protect him, and we will need him. For me, there is no fixed starter. The advantage I have now, which wasn't there before, is that I have a good bench, and every player is capable of playing."
Regragui concluded: "I don't care who always scores; what matters to me is that we have a good group, and we won't win the cup with just one or two players. The idea is that no player has a guaranteed starting spot; instead, the right decisions must be made in matches."
