Regragui: "I Won't Fall into the Trap of Saying Everything Was Perfect... We Must Be More Clinical if We Want to Win the Title"

National coach Walid Regragui affirmed that the Moroccan national team needs to work more on improving its attacking efficiency if it aims to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.

Speaking at the press conference following the 3-0 victory over Zambia, Regragui stated: "This was not our benchmark match, and I won't fall into the trap of saying, 'Since we won by three goals, everything was perfect and everything is fine.' When we score early and capitalize on the few chances we get, it changes the course of the game."

He continued: "In every match, we concede only one or two shots on target, while we take 15 or 16 shots. Our shots must be more focused, and we must be more clinical. In any case, to become champions of Africa, victory will go to the most effective team."

He added: "When we watched all the matches, especially those in the second round between first and second-tier teams, there wasn't an easy game for any side. We need realism, and that's what we're working on, and we also need confidence."

Regragui further commented: "The confidence of the fans also liberates the players, making them more effective. We need confidence, and thankfully today we felt truly supported. That's why I cannot be angry about criticism. Criticism is normal, and once we enter the stadium and find the fans with us, they have the right to criticize us. This is what I liked today."

He concluded: "We are developing, and God willing, we must continue this way without arrogance. Conversely, we must not be overly enthusiastic; instead, we must remain realistic and keep our feet on the ground."
