Regragui: 'Yes, I Still Believe What I Said, Otherwise I Wouldn't Be Sitting Here Now'
National coach Walid Regragui has reiterated his belief that there is no better coach than him to lead the Moroccan national team to the Africa Cup of Nations title.
During a press conference held this Sunday morning, ahead of Monday's match against Zambia, Regragui was asked if he still stood by his previous statement: "You won't find anyone better than me to win this Cup, whether you like it or not." He responded: "Yes, I still believe what I said, otherwise I wouldn't be sitting here now."
He added: "I have more confidence than anyone else (in winning the Africa Cup). The musicians are paid at the end of the party," implying that accountability should only come after the tournament's conclusion. He further stated: "This is how I have always worked, whether with FUS, Wydad, Al-Duhail, or at the World Cup."
Regragui concluded: "We are united like a family, and we know what we need to deliver for Moroccan football, and we are ready for it. However, we know we will suffer."
