
AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Morocco Defeats Zambia 3-0 to Top Group Stage
The Moroccan national team secured a dominant 3-0 victory over their Zambian counterparts on Monday evening. The match, held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, was part of the third and final round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
The Atlas Lions asserted their pressure on Zambia's defense from the outset. Ayoub El Kaabi opened the scoring early in the 9th minute, before Brahim Diaz doubled Morocco's lead with the second goal around the 27th minute.
After the half-time break, Morocco continued to control the proceedings. El Kaabi scored his second goal of the match – and Morocco's third – with a world-class strike in the 50th minute.
This result solidified Morocco's position at the top of Group A with seven points, ensuring their qualification for the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations. Meanwhile, Zambia exited the tournament, finishing last in the group with two points.
