Kroos: "Morocco Could Be 2026 World Cup Surprise"
Former Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has included the Moroccan national team among the prominent candidates to shine at the 2026 World Cup finals, highlighting the significant development "the Atlas Lions" have undergone in recent years.
In statements reported by the Spanish newspaper "AS," Kroos revealed his vision for the teams most likely to compete for the world title, stating: "Spain, Portugal, and France are among the main favorites, but Morocco could be a surprise, as they have made significant technical progress in recent years."
He added: "I haven't mentioned Brazil, but they remain one of the favorites. It's nice that many countries participate in the tournament, but I oppose expanding the number of teams, to preserve player safety and ensure the quality of the competition."
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team has been drawn into Group C of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Brazil, Haiti, and Scotland.
