Senegal President Urges National Team to Win Second AFCON Title in Morocco

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has urged the national football team to return from Morocco with the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title. The President's call came during an official ceremony held on Wednesday at the presidential palace in Dakar, where he handed the national flag to the players before their departure to the Kingdom to compete in the tournament.

Addressing the team, President Faye stated: "The nation entrusts you with a sacred mission: to write a new page in our sporting epic. Make this Africa Cup of Nations a new moment of glory, just as you did in 2022 when you secured our first title against Egypt in Cameroon."

He further emphasized: "You are heading to Morocco with a clear and unequivocal goal: to win the second star," referring to securing the country's second AFCON title.

Senegal's AFCON campaign is set to commence on December 23 with a match against Botswana. They will then face DR Congo on December 27, before concluding their group stage fixtures against Benin on December 30.
