Como Coach Fabregas Upset Over Diaw's AFCON Call-Up

Cesc Fabregas, coach of Italian club Como, has expressed his displeasure and disapproval regarding the call-up of young player Alassane Diaw (20) to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025", after he was included in Senegal's final squad.

Speaking at a press conference held today, Saturday, Fabregas addressed Diaw's call-up, appearing visibly angry about his inclusion in the Senegalese squad. He stated: "I prefer not to go into the details of the matter. Diaw has been called up, and I spoke with him after the Inter match (last Saturday). He knows my opinion very well."

Cesc also revealed that he had spoken with Senegal's national team coach, Pape Thiaw. "I spoke to his national team coach, but the conversation did not end well," Fabregas explained. "They have every right to call him up. After Monday's match (against Roma) he will leave, and he will be absent from us for some time. He knows my opinion, and he knows what the club wants. Ultimately, he will decide what to do."

It is worth noting that Alassane Diaw had previously chosen to play for the Senegalese national team, preferring it over the Spanish national team, as he had the option to represent "La Roja" given he was born in Spain.
