Regragui on Clubs Retaining Players Until December 15: 'Each Party Looks After Its Own Interests'
Walid Regragui, head coach of the Moroccan national team, commented on the decision allowing clubs to retain their players until December 15 before they join their national teams for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals. Regragui affirmed that the Moroccan national team understands the clubs' interests but expects, in return, respect for the rights of national teams and the African Confederation.
In a media statement, Regragui said: "We respect the decision to allow clubs to keep their players because each party looks after its own interests, and we also look after ours."
He added: "The only thing we demand is that we, as a Confederation, are respected. This is a continental competition dear to Africans, and the current reality is that it is played in the middle of the year. The most important thing is that the players' rights are respected, and that we get our players back and work together."
It is worth noting that the Kingdom of Morocco will host the Africa Cup of Nations between December 21 and January 18, 2026.
