Regragui: "The National Team is Above Everyone; It Doesn't Matter if You Play for Real Madrid, Getafe, or Touarga"
Walid Regragui has emphasized that the national team always takes precedence, and only those who truly deserve it will earn the right to wear the Moroccan national team jersey.
Following Morocco's 1-0 friendly win against Mozambique, the national coach stated in the post-match press conference: "Some may try to belittle players from the local league, but I personally don't care where a player plies his trade. I only assess their quality and capabilities during training sessions before making my selections."
Regragui further elaborated, referencing a recent statement by Omar El Hilali, who was not called up for the current November training camp. "I was impressed by El Hilali's statement, where he affirmed he would continue to work and fight for his spot in the national team. In the past, if a player wasn't called up, they might have simply given up. Thankfully, today we are moving in the right direction, and this is precisely the spirit we aim for."
He concluded his remarks by reiterating: "The national team is above everyone. You could be playing for Real Madrid, Getafe, or Touarga; everyone is considered equal."
