Spanish club Real Madrid has suffered a significant setback following confirmation of a long-term injury to their player Trent Alexander-Arnold, which will keep him out of action for an extended period.

Real Madrid issued a statement confirming the injury: "Following tests conducted today on our player Trent Alexander-Arnold, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the quadriceps femoris muscle of his left leg. His recovery will be monitored." While the club did not specify the exact duration of the English international's absence, Spanish media outlets have reported that the injury is expected to keep Arnold out of action for approximately two months, potentially extending to two and a half months.

Trent's absence will be felt in several crucial fixtures, including the Spanish Super Cup and the remaining Champions League group stage matches, where Real Madrid are set to face Manchester City, Monaco, and Benfica. He will also miss the Copa del Rey Round of 32, and potentially the Round of 16 if the team progresses. Furthermore, the team will be without his services for six rounds of La Liga. The player is not expected to return to action before February, which poses a significant challenge for coach Xabi Alonso, who will be without a recognized right-back for the foreseeable future, given Dani Carvajal's concurrent absence.
