Alonso Responds to Laporta: 'We Know These Populist Speeches Well'

Xabi Alonso emphasized the need for a "complete performance" as Real Madrid prepares to visit Girona. He also used the pre-match press conference to respond to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Laporta had previously stated in response to Florentino Pérez: "It seems they are forced to talk about Barcelona to justify things we don't know. They are constantly involved in legal proceedings related to the Negreira case. They are stalling because they know perfectly well it is baseless, but it's a way to justify something invalid: Barcelona has never bribed any referee, and referees generally do not favor Barcelona."

Alonso responded to Laporta, saying: "We know very well these populist speeches directed at their fans. As for us, we are focused only on our work, and what's important is to win on the field deservedly and with sportsmanship. Every match is a new test to prove that."

It is worth noting that Real Madrid will visit Girona tomorrow, Sunday, at 21:00 GMT+1, for matchday 14 of the Spanish League.
