Flick After Chelsea Defeat: "I Promise We Will See a Different Barcelona Soon"
Barcelona coach Hans Flick confirmed he would work to rectify the team's situation following their heavy 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Flick stated: "We had the opportunity to score first, but then playing with one less player made it very difficult. We fought. I saw positive aspects, but we lost possession far too often, including easy balls under pressure."
He added: "We must accept this defeat and also think positively. It will be very difficult to finish this stage among the top eight, but anything is possible. We saw Chelsea play with more dynamism, and that is what I want from my team."
"Today we played with a numerical disadvantage, and that affected us greatly. With an extra player, the game is played better. For Chelsea, playing against ten is an advantage. We started well, creating good chances through Ferran, but then with a numerical disadvantage, it became very difficult. We lacked the necessary intensity, but I am positive about the future."
He concluded: "I don't know what happened with the first yellow card; I need to speak with him and review the videos. As for the second, he shouldn't have intervened in that manner, but these things happen in football. I promise you that we will see a different Barcelona soon. I am sure and optimistic."
