Sektioui: "In the previous match, we missed 10 players, including Bencharki, El Hanouri, and Mehri due to injury, and El Karti and Bentaïg to avoid fatigue."
National coach Tarik Sektioui, manager of the Moroccan B national team, provided a clear picture of the team's real situation ahead of their match against Oman. He confirmed that preparations were challenging due to the absence of key players and delays in some players' documentation, forcing him to make difficult choices.
During the pre-match press conference, Sektioui explained, "Competition of this magnitude makes you want all players to be present, but the squad list, limited to 20 players and 3 goalkeepers, is small compared to the team's needs." He noted that only 10 players out of 20 were available for the team's previous match.
The coach added that the team was deprived of the services of Mehri, Bencharki, and El Hanouri, whom he considered essential pillars of their respective clubs.
Sektioui continued, clarifying that he had to refrain from including several players to avoid fatigue or due to technical considerations and specific circumstances. He stated, "There are players we preferred not to involve, such as Bentaïg, El Karti, Hamdallah, Saâdane, and El Ouadni, and sometimes you find yourself compelled to make decisions you don't wish for."
The B team coach also pointed out that player Chouiar was unable to join the squad on time because his documents arrived late, which further complicated his selection options.
