Rivers United Coach: "The Loss Was Very Painful Against RS Berkane, Players Bear Responsibility"
Rivers United coach Finidi George heavily criticized his players following their defeat to RS Berkane in the second round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
The match saw a dramatic turnaround, as RS Berkane managed to overturn a deficit into a victory in injury time, scoring two goals in the 90+7th and 90+9th minutes, with the encounter ending 2-1 in favor of the Moroccan side.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Finidi stated: "A draw would not have been a good result for us, but the loss was very painful."
He continued: "It is very unfortunate that we lost. If you ask me, I would say I cannot explain what happened. It is very sad, and I will place the responsibility for what transpired on the players' game management."
He concluded: "That lack of game management is what caused our defeat. With January approaching, we will see what can be done; perhaps we will make some signings and strengthen the team."
