Tagnaouti, Bencharki, and Three RS Berkane Players Dominate CAF Champions League Opening Round Best XI
The first round of the CAF Champions League group stage has unveiled its Best XI, which prominently features Moroccan players. This strong Moroccan presence is largely due to the standout performances of players from RS Berkane and the exceptional display by goalkeeper Reda Tagnaouti.
The selection for the Best XI is based on the "Sofascore" index, which utilizes precise statistics to evaluate player performance in each match. This methodology ensured a deserved spot for RS Berkane players in the lineup, alongside Tagnaouti, who garnered significant attention for his crucial saves against Young Africans.
The Best XI included three players from RS Berkane: Haitam Manaout, Abdelhak Assal, and Mounir Chouiar. Additionally, Achraf Bencharki from Egyptian giants Al Ahly also made the cut.
The complete Best XI for the opening round (Player – Club) includes:
Tagnaouti (AS FAR), Trézéguet (Al Ahly), Doub (Young Africans), Chouiar (RS Berkane), Santos (Mamelodi Sundowns), Atef (Pyramids FC), Bencharki (Al Ahly), Owen (Stade Malien), Sami (Pyramids FC), Assal (RS Berkane), and Manaout (RS Berkane).
