Nigeria to Host 2026 CAF Awards After Four Consecutive Editions in Morocco
Nigeria is set to host the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards ceremony in 2026, following four consecutive editions held in the Kingdom of Morocco.
According to 'Guardian Nigeria', Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially approved his country's bid to host the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony, alongside the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF.
This decision came after a high-level meeting held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, as part of the "Africa Forward" summit, attended by CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
The meeting saw the presence of several prominent figures, including Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Gusau, former NFF President and Special Advisor to the CAF President Amaju Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.
According to the same source, President Tinubu gave his official approval to host the two continental events, aiming to strengthen Nigeria's position as a key destination for major sporting events in Africa.
The 48th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF is expected to take place in October 2026, bringing together the presidents of the 54 member associations of CAF, along with representatives from regional federations and football officials from across the continent.
It is worth noting that the Kingdom of Morocco hosted the CAF Awards ceremony for the past four consecutive years.
