Tunisian Referees Committee Appoints Austrian Official for Esperance-Club Africain Derby
The Tunisian Football Federation announced yesterday, Thursday, the appointment of an Austrian refereeing team to officiate the highly anticipated derby between Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Club Africain. The match is part of Week 29 of the Tunisian League competition.
The Referees Committee decided to assign Austrian referee Christian-Petru Ciochirca to lead the crucial encounter. He will be assisted by his compatriot Harald Lechner, who will serve as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The Tunis derby is scheduled for Sunday evening at the Hamadi Agrebi Stadium. This match is considered decisive in the race for the league title, especially as Club Africain currently tops the table with 62 points, just two points ahead of their direct pursuers, Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
Referee Christian Ciochirca is 36 years old, born in Romania, and holds Austrian nationality. He has previously officiated matches in the UEFA Europa Conference League and the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Champions League during the current season.
