Reports: Msakni Decides to Retire Due to Deteriorating Mental State After Father's Death
Tunisian press reports indicate that Youssef Msakni, the Espérance Sportive de Tunis player, has decided to retire from football. This decision comes amidst his continued absence from team training following the death of his father.
According to Tunisia's Nessma TV website, Msakni made this decision due to a decline in his psychological state after the passing of his father, Monzer Msakni, a former international player, last February.
The same source added that Espérance's management expressed full understanding of Msakni's decision, affirming their absolute support for him during this difficult period of his life. They also praised his efforts and successes with the team.
Msakni had previously played for a few minutes in both matches against Egypt's Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League before his absence from training. He also did not feature in the Tunisian League's "Clasico" match against Étoile du Sahel.
