Arbeloa: "Only Those Unfamiliar with Real Madrid Would See Bayern Comeback as a Miracle"
Álvaro Arbeloa, Real Madrid's coach, spoke confidently about his team's ability to achieve a "remontada" (comeback) against Bayern Munich tomorrow, Wednesday (20:00 GMT+1), in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Arbeloa stated: "We need to improve many aspects of our play. It's important to capitalize on chances because we won't get the same number of opportunities as in the first leg. It's about confidence. We must score if we want to win and qualify. We have to play very, very well."
Addressing Real Madrid's past failures to achieve away comebacks in the Champions League, he explained: "We haven't discussed it, but it's an additional challenge. Real Madrid's history is built on impossibilities. We are ready to fight to write a new page, make this club's history even greater, and achieve a comeback away from home."
He added: "I don't see that we need a miracle. If we had won the last match, it wouldn't have been crazy. Their goalkeeper was the best player. We are capable of doing this. Those who don't know Real Madrid will think our win tomorrow will be a miracle."
Regarding his optimism about his team's ability to achieve a comeback against Bayern Munich, Arbeloa said: "Firstly, because we are Real Madrid. If there's a team capable of a comeback in this stadium, it's us. We are a team that never gives up, a team with 15 European titles."
