Yamal: 'Comeback Won't Be a Miracle; Hope My Idol Neymar Plays in World Cup'
Barcelona player Lamine Yamal believes his team's potential comeback against Atlético Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals would not be a "miracle." He stated that the Catalan club is capable of scoring two or more goals without difficulty. Barcelona needs to overturn a 0-2 first-leg deficit from their home match to advance to the competition's semi-finals.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, the Spanish international said, "The comeback will not be a miracle. We are excited to reach the semi-finals and will do our best to achieve that."
He added, "I have taken on more responsibilities than expected since I was young. I am used to it, I don't dwell on it, and I don't consider it a problem."
Yamal continued, "Neymar is my idol, and he influenced me during my childhood. We used to pay for tickets just to watch him play. I thank him for everything he has given to football, and I hope he will be present at the World Cup."
Barcelona is set to visit Atlético Madrid tomorrow, Tuesday, at 20:00 GMT+1, at the Metropolitano Stadium.
