English club Tottenham Hotspur announced on Tuesday the appointment of Italian Roberto De Zerbi as the team's new head coach on a long-term contract. He replaces Croatian Igor Tudor, whose contract was terminated last Sunday.

The London club stated in an official announcement: "We are pleased to announce the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as our new men's first-team head coach on a long-term contract, subject to obtaining a work permit."

De Zerbi, 46, returns to the Premier League after a successful spell with Brighton between 2022 and 2024, where he guided the team to European qualification for the first time in their history by finishing sixth in the league.

De Zerbi departed in July 2024 for French club Olympique Marseille, where he achieved a second-place finish in the French league last season, before leaving last February.

Tottenham currently sit 17th in the Premier League, just one point and one place above the relegation zone, having collected only one point from their last five league matches, which led to the club's separation from Igor Tudor.
