Chelsea Suspends Enzo Fernandez for Two Matches Over Madrid Transfer Comments
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has announced the exclusion of Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez from the squad due to his statements regarding a potential move to Real Madrid.
The Chelsea vice-captain had sparked controversy by confirming his desire to live in Madrid, following the team's exit from the Champions League at the hands of French side Paris Saint-Germain.
Furthermore, the British newspaper "The Telegraph" reported that Enzo Fernandez also directed abusive language towards his teammates due to the negative results, asserting that his relationship with them had become very poor.
Based on this information, manager Rosenior decided to exclude the Argentine player from the "Blues" squad. He stated: "I told him he would not be involved in the next two matches. He crossed a red line in terms of our culture and what we are trying to build."
Chelsea is scheduled to face Port Vale tomorrow, Saturday (17:15 GMT+1), in the FA Cup quarter-finals, and then host Manchester City on Sunday, April 12 (16:30 GMT+1), for Matchday 32 of the Premier League.
