Donnarumma posted an emotional message on his Instagram account, conveying his immense disappointment. He stated: "Last night, after the match, I cried. I cried out of disappointment that we couldn't take Italy to the place it deserves."
Donnarumma added: "I cried because of the great sadness I feel, along with all the members of the national team, of which I am proud to be captain, and I know that you, our fans, feel it too."
He continued: "It's true that words are not enough now. But there is something I feel strongly within me that I want to share with you: after such a huge disappointment, we must have the courage to turn a new page, once again. To achieve this, we need a lot of strength, passion, and faith."
Donnarumma concluded his message by emphasizing the need to hold onto hope and work towards a strong comeback, saying: "Faith is always the engine to keep going, because life rewards those who give their all without hesitation."
