Gattuso on Bosnian Fan Pressure: "I've Never Seen a Fan Score a Goal"
Italy coach Gennaro Gattuso expressed confidence in his team's ability to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2026 World Cup playoff final, despite concerns about the poor pitch conditions at "Bilino Polje Stadium" and the atmosphere created by Bosnian fans.
Reports indicated that adverse weather, including snow and rain, forced the Italian squad to alter their plans. The team conducted their training session on Monday morning in Florence before flying to Bosnia.
Ahead of the match, Gattuso stated, "If the pitch is bad, it will be a challenge for both teams, and the match will go ahead regardless. I have seen the pitch now and I think it is in good condition."
Regarding the pressure that might be exerted by Bosnian fans, Gattuso commented, "I've never seen a fan score a goal," indicating that the crowd cannot influence the players.
It is worth noting that Italy will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina this evening, Tuesday (19:45 GMT+1), for the playoff final, with the winner qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
