Spanish FA President Condemns Anti-Muslim Chants During Egypt Match in Barcelona
Rafael Lozano, President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), has condemned the racist and xenophobic chants observed at the RCD Espanyol Stadium during the friendly match between Spain and Egypt. He stressed that such actions contradict the values of sport.
In this regard, the sports official affirmed that football should serve as a role model for society, which requires zero tolerance for any incidents that deviate from this ethical framework.
Commenting on the incident, the RFEF President stated: "This type of specific and isolated situation that occurs must be condemned, as sport and football should provide a positive example, not reflect such behaviour." Following this, calls have emerged for stricter controls to ensure these transgressions are not repeated in Spanish stadiums.
The Spanish Federation reinforced this approach by publishing awareness messages across its official platforms, affirming its commitment to combating discrimination in all its forms. In a statement published via social media channels, the Federation declared: "The Royal Spanish Football Federation joins our football's message against racism and condemns any act of violence in stadiums."
