Al-Deayea Relinquishes Status, Declares: 'Bono is Al-Hilal's Best Goalkeeper Ever'
Mohamed Al-Deayea, the legendary goalkeeper for Al-Hilal and the Saudi national team, has affirmed that Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono has become the best goalkeeper in the club's history, surpassing even his own legacy.
Al-Deayea posted a video on his official X (formerly Twitter) account documenting the penalty shootout in the King's Cup final, where Al-Hilal defeated their traditional rivals Al-Nassr, with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo in attendance. He commented: “Bono is the best goalkeeper in Al-Hilal's history.”
Yassine Bono joined Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 from Spanish club Sevilla and quickly became a fundamental pillar in the team's lineup.
The Moroccan goalkeeper played a decisive role in leading Al-Hilal to a historic treble in the 2023-2024 season, which included the Roshn Saudi League, the King's Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup. He also guided the team to the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with what was described as a legendary defensive performance.
